After mastering this set of practices, the main perpetrator Yang Mo actively built a “Tea Friend” group centered around herself. Through sharing and communicating in social groups and inviting “Tea Friends” to temporarily stay and gather at her home in Deyang, she gradually filtered out loyal and devoted “Tea Friends” such as “San Ye (three leaves),” “Lü Cao (green grass),” and “Xin Lu (new path),” who were involved in this case. Within this group, Yang Mo gradually deified herself, claiming to have achieved “enlightenment,” and to be able to establish a “spiritual connection” with “Supreme Master Ching Hai” and president He, enabling her to communicate thoughts with them through their photographs. In daily life, Yang Mo had “Tea Friends” practice in front of photos of “Supreme Master Ching Hai” and president He to establish a “spiritual connection,” seeking enlightenment and liberation from the sea of worldly sufferings. In group communications, Yang Mo promoted cult-like statements such as eating vegetarian, avoiding meat, and “not killing” to save the Earth, and the “end of the world.” She claimed that drinking “Expert Tea” could cure all diseases and that using “Heavenly Clothes” (rainbow clothes) and “Heavenly Ornaments” (crystal ornaments) could increase magnetic field energy. This was used to control followers, urging them to buy “Expert Tea” and crystal ornaments at high prices to enhance their so-called “cultivation.” To further control others, Yang Mo demanded that the “Tea Friends” in the group should not have any negative thoughts about her and should not go against her will.

In the “Practice Diary” seized at the scene, “Tea Friends” attributed their passing medical check-ups to the blessings of the “Master” and “Teacher” and expressed joy in the so-called “source connection.”

According to police investigations, Yang Mo often used her influence to subject her “Tea Friends” to violent beatings, verbal abuse, forced kneeling, molestation, and other humiliating acts such as being used as a mount. Yang Mo even claimed to have the ability to cure cancer, leading lung cancer patient “Xin Lu” to firmly believe that following her practices would treat his disease, causing him to throw away his anti-cancer medication. Under Yang Mo's manipulation, “Xin Lu” also sponsored fifty thousand yuan for the Bifeng Gorge gathering and voluntarily gave Yang Mo over sixty thousand yuan personally. Despite “Xin Lu” contributing both money and effort, during the group gatherings, Yang Mo frequently beat and insulted “Xin Lu” to elevate her own prestige, forcing“Xin Lu” to dance naked in front of everyone, crawl on the ground as her mount, and was also wantonly beaten, teased, and molested by “Mei Xin (beautiful heart)” and others. It is understood that “Xin Lu” has passed away due to the worsening of his cancer.
